IMG_4829Oddly enough, two of these classes are taught by an American from Texas and a Austrian lady.

Richard teaches the history class and had moved to Turkey with his wife in 1993.  Since then he has never been back to America.  I asked him if he missed U.S. and he  said no.  He has adapted to the Turkish life style quite well.  When he first arrived to Turkey things were very different.  Turkey wasn’t as developed as America at that time, but now it is at a similar level.  He is now a Turkish citizen and he definitely speaks the language very well.  I would have to say he is an impressive person.  He knows English, Spanish, Japanese, Arabic, and Turkish.  I think there are more... Oh yea, Egyptian Hieroglyphs.

Sabine teaches sociology 388 and came to Turkey as an anthropologist to study a village.  She has been here for about 3 years now and she is a hardcore professional, because she not only left Vienna but had to learn the language in order to conduct her ethnography.

IMG_5928My ceramics teacher is a sweetheart.  Odul is such a kind lady but with a strong personality.   She is like a sunflower for the most part, but she takes her ceramics seriously so she expects us to do our best.  The first few words she taught me was gülzel which means beautiful and muhteşem—magnificent.  She was referring to my work. :)
